What’s Patch? is a community-specific news and information platform dedicated to providing comprehensive and trusted local coverage for individual towns and communities. With a network of more than 500 sites driven by a growing number of passionate and experienced leaders in journalism and new media, Patch is poised to become the largest online local news outlet in the country.

What does Patch offer you?

This is a full-time, paid internship where you’ll gain valuable experience working as a journalist.

As an intern, you will:

• Pitch and write stories

• Attend weekly editorial meetings

• Shoot and edit photos and video

• Cover town and school board meetings, court hearings and local businesses • Attend community outreach events

• Execute social media strategies

What are we looking for?

Smart, enthusiastic students with a passion for local journalism. You should be a self-starter, able to learn quickly and work independently. That means free spirits and straight shooters. Creatives and critics. Nerds with nerve. People who love the Internet, but can see its cracks…and its future, too.

Candidates must be a junior, senior or graduate student or a recent graduate and must have demonstrated reporting experience through campus media, an internship or a freelance position. Candidates must have a car and be willing to work some nights and weekends.
