2012 SIFF Internships Positions Open Now!

SIFF is looking for organized, efficient, resourceful interns for the 2012 Seattle International Film Festival (May 17 — June 10). Open positions include Guest Relations, Marketing, Publicity, Special Events, Administrative, and Editorial internships. These are unpaid internships with a 10-20 hour/week commitment.

As a SIFF intern, you will receive a Staff Badge which gives you access to the films and events of the Festival and screenings at SIFF Cinema at the Uptown and the Film Center. Several of our interns have used our references to secure jobs after the festival is ended. Click here for full descriptions on each internship, and details on how to apply: http://www.siff.net/about/jobs/interns.aspx.

Administrative Intern

The Administrative Intern supports the HR and Volunteer Coordinator in running the SIFF office and Volunteer Department. This is an excellent opportunity to experience what goes on behind the scenes of the Festival, and gain valuable work experience.

 Publicity Intern

Publicity interns assist with the local and national media outreach to promote and generate favorable media coverage for this year’s festival.

 Marketing and Outreach Intern

The marketing intern is responsible for assisting the Marketing Coordinator in implementing SIFF’s overall marketing and communications plan–focusing specifically on promotions and community outreach–to build awareness about SIFF within the community, and to increase attendance and ticket sales.

 Special Events Intern

This support position reports to the Events Manager and is crucial to the success of more than 50 special events. Leading up to the Festival, the Special Events Intern’s main focus will be securing donated items for VIP gift bags as well as other in-kind donations. Additionally, this position will assist the SIFF Events Manager with some aspects of event planning and implementation; including managing check-in at events. Candidates must have excellent verbal and written communication and be comfortable cold calling donor prospects.

 Editorial Intern

Under the direction of the Communications Coordinator and Publication Co-Editors, the Editorial Intern will assist the Marketing and Communications Department with the writing, editing, and proofreading of content for the SIFF website, newsletter, catalog, and festival guide.

Guest Relations Intern

The Guest Relations department hosts visiting filmmakers, celebrities, media professionals and other VIPs. You will assist our staff in to organize Volunteer schedules on Shiftboard, staff the W Hotel Guest Hospitality Suite, organize flight data in Filemaker Pro, communicate with sponsor hotels, airlines and parking garages, meet and greet Festival VIPs.
