Title:               Communications & Development Intern

Stipend:          $1,500 per quarter

Duration:        10/12 – 6/15/13; 15 hours per week

 

The Position:

The Foundation for Early Learning is seeking a qualified intern for a minimum of two (2) quarters.  In addition to supporting our social media strategy, the intern will help implement the organization’s development activities including our major fundraiser in March 2013. The internship will be performed on location at the Foundation for Early Learning’s downtown Seattle office. The intern may be asked to travel to different locations on a limited basis.

This part-time, paid internship will include the following:

●        Maintenance of our Early Learning Community site (www.earlylearningcommunity.org)

●        Researching current social media trends and implementing effective organizational use

●        Sponsorship solicitation and event coordination

●        Publication of monthly e-newsletter

The ideal candidate will be enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree program in public administration, social work administration, nonprofit management, education administration, or a related program.  The candidate must pay attention to detail and meet deadlines. S/He must also have excellent communication and customer service skills, both on the phone, in writing, and in internet communication and interaction.

Candidates should have prior knowledge of social media, including Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and Pinterest, social media tools, internet trends, and MS Office. Physical requirements include being able to lift boxes weighing 35 lbs and maneuver on stairs. Interest in children’s issues a plus!
