Hearing, Speech & Deafness Center (HSDC), a local nonprofit agency, is seeking an intern to support our 5th Annual Leaping for Literacy 5K Family Fun Run/Walk scheduled for Saturday, June 8, at Bellevue College. If you’re an organized, energetic self-starter looking for hands on experience working in all aspects of event planning and marketing including sponsorships, volunteer recruitment and community outreach to generate increased participation, then this internship could be for you! This is an unpaid internship with a 5-15 hour/week commitment with flexible hours.
Desired Qualifications and Requirements:
- College student working towards a four year degree in communications, marketing or similar field
- Prior experience working with volunteers in a collaborative atmosphere
- Ability to meet deadlines
- Excellent writing skills
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with the Deaf community is a plus!
As the Events Fun Run intern you would work directly with the Event Coordinator and agency’s Fundraising team and volunteers while supporting early learning for children who are deaf, deaf-blind, hard of hearing, or facing speech-language challenges. You’ll also have the opportunity to build and improve writing and editing skills for a variety of marketing pieces.
