Communications Internship with Environmental Nonprofit

Forterra fills a unique and important niche as the largest conservation and community building organization dedicated solely to this region. As a national leader, Forterra is shaping a future that will flourish environmentally and economically. We partner with thousands of leaders and residents across the Northwest to create healthy, livable, and prosperous communities. For over 20 years, Forterra has led efforts to restore critical landscapes and conserve more than 172,000 acres of forests, farms, shorelines, parks, and natural areas.

The Policy department at Forterra is currently working on projects at the county and city levels designing market-based resource land conservation programs and supporting stakeholder engagement for sustainable communities. Working closely with the Policy department and the Marketing Director, this position will focus on providing assistance with crafting marketing and communications materials, including:

  • Creating written content for brochures, one-pagers, and other outreach information about conservation programs and policy tools we employ, such as transfer of development rights (TDR) programs, the Landscape Conservation and Local Infrastructure Program (LCLIP), and ecosystem services markets.
  • Designing and producing reports, brochures, and other outreach materials for external distribution. Includes layout and graphic design.
  • Researching policy programs and tools, and working with the Policy and Marketing departments to create effective messaging.
