Editorial Intern

We are looking for an editorial intern (possibly two) for our winter/spring term, ideally starting in January. http://www.seattlemet.com/pages/jobs-at-seattlemet#customintern).

SagaCity Media Custom Editorial Internship

 Job/Internship type:

Unpaid Internship

Company/Publication Name:

SagaCity Media

Location:

Seattle, WA

Description:

SagaCity Media is looking for smart, motivated interns to join the custom editorial team. The custom division creates a host of local travel and tourism magazines, including the official Washington State Visitors’ Guide, Visit Seattle, and the Washington State Wine Tour Guide. You won’t be getting anyone coffee here; interns will work closely with editors to learn firsthand how editorial content is put together in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment. Interns are responsible for fact-checking, editing, proofreading, assisting editors with conceptualizing and executing stories, participating in team brainstorm sessions, and more. Interns who shine at the simpler tasks will have the opportunity to work on larger projects, such as contributing to features and writing department pieces (and will be paid for print bylines).

The time commitment is 12-15 hours a week, done in 4- to 5-hour stints between 8:30am and 5:30pm weekdays. Internships generally last 6 months, but timing is fairly flexible. Students may take the internship for college credit; recent graduates are also accepted.

Deadline to apply: Rolling basis. We are currently considering applications for our winter/spring internship, starting in January.

Apply:

Send one PDF file containing the following: a cover letter indicating your desired term or start date, a resume, three brief writing samples, and the names and phone/email contacts for three references. Send your application to custom assistant editor Karin Vandraiss at:

Make sure your name and the words “Custom Internship” appear in the subject line or your message may not reach its destination. No phone calls, please.
