Digital Media Unpaid Intern Position Description

Title: Digital Media Intern

Department/Location: Technology

Staff Supervisor: Director of Technology

Goals and Learning Objectives: The Seattle Art Museum is always striving for ways to meld technology and the visitor experience to create a unique and powerful proposition to bring Art to Life. With this Internship, an intern will be exposed to methods, techniques, and projects that are working to enhance, enliven, and engage our constituency.

Duties & Responsibilities:

 Work with team members to develop and understand digital strategies that will meet the museum’s objectives

 Analyze reports to create insights that will help drive digital efforts and strategies

 Survey and monitor visitors to better understand their behavior patterns within the museum

 Expected time commitment: Up to 20 hours per week, flexible schedule between M-F, 9-5PM. Start date: ASAP

Qualifications:

 Must be extremely detail oriented with strong attention to follow-through

 Strong writing skills

 Communicate effectively in both written + verbal form

 Flexible in work functions + duties

 Ability to manage multiple tasks + meet deadlines

 Proficient in managing large amounts of data + ability to interpret + extract meaningful insight from data

 Exceptional time management skills

 Strong teamwork skills

 PC proficiency + strong skills in MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word, PPT, Excel) essential

 Must be able to focus for long periods of time at a computer screen given the nature of the digital business

Physical Requirements:

 Manual dexterity.

 Ability to lift up to 20 pounds.

Education:

 Currently enrolled as a full-time student at an accredited US college or university

 Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Communications, Business, Information Technology or a related field

Training:

 General SAM orientation provided by Volunteer Department

 On-the-job training will be provided, as needed.
