We are looking for a Seattle Made Marketing and Communications intern. This is an excellent opportunity for a collaborative, outgoing project manager with interests in local business, food, community development, and events/marketing. Application deadline is June 6th. 

Seattle Good Business Network is a coalition of local businesses, entrepreneurs, investors, and citizens committed to buying, producing, and investing locally. Together, we’re building a resilient, vibrant, and inclusive local economy. One of our programs, Seattle Made supports local producers and manufacturers producing everything from bowties to kimchi to bicycles all made right here in Seattle!

Overview:

  • 15 – 20 hours per week
  • 6/15 – 10/15 – dates are flexible
  • Stipend available Intern Position Duties:
  • Formation, implementation, and tracking of a social media plan for Seattle Made and specifically Seattle Made Week (early October)
  • Populating the Seattle Made online calendar
  • Research, compile and populate an online database of local pop-up shops, fairs, and events.
  • Research, compile and populate an online database of local providers – ie: graphic designers,       bookkeepers, printers.
  • Work at events
  • Other office and event duties as assignedQualifications: Must be pursuing or possess a degree in public relations, communications and/or marketing. Excellent research, writing and communication skills
  • Social media understanding, experience preferred
  • Comfortable working independently in a flexible work environment, ability to multi-task
  • Ability to work at events that may include nights and weekends
  • Experience with Microsoft Office, Google Docs and online content management (WordPress)

Brooks Sports Social Media Marketing Intern

 Location: Bothell, WA

Assignment: 3-month, temporary assignment; 20 hours/week

 

Summary of Position:
The Social Media Marketing Intern will assist Brooks Sports in developing engaging content for distribution through the Brooks Blog and our social media presence on Twitter, Facebook and YouTube. This includes authoring social media posts, responding to customer inquiries online and developing multimedia content. The intern will also work closely with our marketing, customer service and web teams to support broader organizational goals.

The ideal candidate for this position should have experience as a blogger, be familiar with journalistic standards and have a passion for building a following through social media. Photoshop and HTML/FBML skills are also a plus.


Duties
:

  • Interact with customers and fans through social media
  • Identify success stories from customers, athletes and staff, research content and author posts
  • Brainstorm social media tie-ins to support and advance broader marketing projects

Primary Responsibilities

The Communications Intern will play a critical role in expanding GW’s presence in the community, creating favorable conditions for building and expanding membership base, as well as engaging new audiences for our members’ work. The Communications Intern will implement elements of the organization’s strategic communications plan and will assist in managing media and public relations including development and production of written collateral; website and e-communications; crafting public presentations; and maintaining a professional and consistent look in all of GW’s materials and office environment.

 

Primary Responsibilities

 

Responsible for working with the Office Manager to produce:

 Annual Report

 Monthly newsletters

 General brochures and fact sheets

 Event invitations and related materials

 PowerPoint presentations and graphics

Media relations:

 Research and assist in evaluation and negotiation of media buys

 Respond to media inquiries

 Contribute to and distribute news releases as needed

 Create and implement media trainings for organization’s leadership/partners

 Track media coverage and maintain current source list of media contacts

Web Maintenance and Development:

 Assist with maintaining and updating website content, including job postings and speakers’ forum database; track web analytics

 Craft and distribute e-communications

Skills and Qualities

 Current student in at least 3rd year of undergraduate studies, or recent graduate of public relations, media relations and/or communications

Amazing CHirp Internship Opportunity!

  1. A.      CHiRP (Citizens Helping in Reducing Poverty) Force Intern Description:

The CHiRP Force intern will act as a regional broadcaster on social media platforms for Oikocredit USA. Interns will work remotely as part of a national team of 10 interns reporting to the Social Media Team Leader (SMarT Leader) located in Washington, DC. CHiRP Force interns will gain valuable exposure to the world of investing in microfinance. Intern duties include:

  • interacting on social media to generate awareness of the strategic areas in which we inves
  • attending/assisting with local events in your area; blogging on topics such as fair trade, women’s empowerment, microloans, economic development, cooperatives, and environmental sustainability
  • Creating media for specific regional needs/events (such as editing own video files or podcasts)
  • Researching and compiling information about Oikocredit partners, Statistics, Regional News, Industry News, Ways to Invest, Local Events, Photos, Videos, Client Stories, etc. to be used in social media
  • Reporting to the Social Media Team Leader located in Washington, DC on all assignments and working in collaboration with other CHiRP interns.

Time Commitment/Compensation:

CHiRP interns are expected to spend an average of 10 hours/week depending on scheduling of assignments with the SMarT Leader.  The hours may be distributed over a period of two days (either two weekdays, or one weekday and one day on the weekend). The position is volunteer and therefore, unpaid, although university credit can be arranged. The minimum time commitment for each intern is 3 months (due to training requirements and consistency). 

An incentive to intern for a longer amount of time is that the subsequent SMarT Leader may be chosen from the pool of current CHiRP interns who have been committed to their position with OikocreditUSA for 3+ months. This CHiRP intern will be invited to Washington, DC to complete a summer internship with Oikocredit USA, providing them the opportunity to interact with other microfinance professionals and organizations such as Mftransparency, Women Advancing Microfinance (W.A.M.), and Grameen Foundation.
